Here are some photos from Aiden’s birthday party last weekend. Lego-themed, obviously. If you’re on instagram, search the #aidenisFOUR hashtag to see more photos! Really though, you should be following me by now anyway. (Click here to do so.)
Goody bags! I cut circles from cardstock and used glue-dots to stick them on. 120 circles. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY. That’s not including the banner circles.
Lego cookies! Ignore the Christmas tray. It didn’t keep the icing from melting once we arrived at the park. 😉 Still yummy!
Cake! Pain in the butt, and the icing also kept melting, but Aiden loved it. So that’s what mattered the most.Banner was cut up cardstock with glued-on circles. Similar to the goody bags. Not pictured: Tray of rainbow fruit-kabobs. Not sure how I forgot to take a photo, but I made them! I have witnesses! Lego-utensil holder! Pinterest is full of deception over how “easy” it is to make this shape out of legos. It took me a while. Not going to lie.
Cupcakes! There were also blue ones. Aiden has since eaten the leftovers.Just another shot of the setup! You can see the blue cupcakes and pre-melted cookies in this one.On the outer deck, I hung a rainbow backdrop, and set up a “photobooth” for the kiddos. I’d say it was successful. (It was just different colored tablecloths pinned up and I found the prop set at Walmart for about $4.)Doesn’t even need a caption! Finally, the party itself was at a boathouse by the lake here where we live. Ducks galore! I made little ziplock baggies filled with bread pieces so all the kids could feed the ducks at the end of the party. It was a hit!I guess if he HAD to turn four, at least it seemed to be a good one! 🙂
Now, bring on Autumn. Please and thank you!

Aiden’s class celebrated his summer birthday today, and he of course wanted superhero cupcakes. I attempted to make these for his birthday last year, and failed. (They were brown.)
How to make them without making them turn brown? Start by finding my go-to recipe for cupcakes here. Once you have your batter, split it into four bowls. Add your food coloring. You will need A LOT (especially the red) to get vibrant, bright, bold colors. I’m not exaggerating. Unless you want pink, then have it your way!
Add a dollop of each color to each wrapper. DO NOT TRY TO MIX OR FLATTEN THEM. This is how you end up with brown poopcakes. They will settle while baking and will NOT be lumpy.
Now add your icing and sprinkles!
Then top with two-stickers-stuck-together-on-a-toothpick-Superhero toppers. (These were a hit, and super easy! Made them while the cupcakes baked.)
They were also delicious!
Happy (almost) Birthday to Aiden!
Oh, did I mention that NJATM is now officially http://www.notjustanotherteenmom.COM?! So stoked. Thanks for being such great followers!
Coming soon to NJATM, my personal review of doTerra essential oils!

Sorry it took me so long to get this posted!
You will need:
1-10 inch embroidery hoops
1-7 inch embroidery hoops
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
3-24pk boxes of crayons (per wreath)
Ribbon (I used two different patterns)
Misc Decorations (I used the wooden letter and wooden apple)
Disclaimer: Getting the crayons even is NOT as easy as it looked on Pinterest.
Lay the 7in hoop inside of the 10in hoop and begin gluing the crayons!
Glue the crayons all the way around. It gets steadier after you glue the first 5-6 crayons.
Step Two: Add any details you want. I did a monogram for the teachers’ first names, and then wrote Ms. ________’s Class on the apple. Then added some ribbon and voila!
Aiden’s teachers LOVED these! 🙂

This year was my first attempt at making Valentines for Aiden’s class, something I’ve looked forward to since he started preschool!
Not bad for my first try! 🙂

Buddy got into Aiden’s advent calendar and chocolate stash this morning!
But he saved today’s piece just for Aiden!
And another passive aggressive “list” reminder for Mommy.
Aiden’s reaction the Buddy eating his chocolate, summed up in a photo:

Apparently Buddy got into my craft stash last night and made himself a swing using my ribbon, and a toilet paper roll!
Buddy also wrote Aiden (who has been EXTRA…ummm…three-year-old-ish the last few days) a note reminding him to be NICE! And to make a Christmas list so that Santa’s helpers…aka the Grandparents… will leave Mommy alone! 😉
By the way, if you decide to try this one, you need some weight inside the TP roll to counter the weight of the elf’s head. These seashells worked perfectly, and Aiden couldn’t see them from his angle.

I’m not sure if Aiden was more concerned about the fact that Buddy colored on his face, or the fact that Buddy was holding Mommy’s markers. (Aiden isn’t allowed to touch them after a certain hallway wall re-decorating fiasco.) Either way, day two was successful…so far!

Our Elf on the Shelf “arrived” this morning. He brought candy, a letter from Santa, and a book to introduce himself!
SOOOO blurry, but I couldn’t help but post the reaction.
Why yes, Santa-Mommy did make up this poem very quickly late last night. (It was a hit-Go me!)
And, our elf FINALLY has a name. Buddy is officially a (creepy-ish) member of the family.
I may not post every day in December, but I will post every day’s elf shenanigans. Not sure if Aiden is more excited, or if I am! 🙂
Ok, I suck at posting daily. I WILL at least do weekly for the rest of 2013. Here are some updates from November.
DIY/Craft Turkeys with my art class (It was a big hit…they are ages 3-5):
Aiden’s Thanksgiving Feast at his preschool:
AAAAAANNNNDDDDDDD Our Christmas decor is mostly up (much to my Husband’s dismay…Scrooge):
I will post more about our Christmas decor and traditions once it’s actually December.
For now, I’ll leave you with a sneak peek of what’s to come… Get excited!!!
Our (currently nameless) Elf on the Shelf moves in Sunday! I’ll be sure to update on all of the shenanigans he gets into around here starting Monday.
